How to Hide Anything in London : 2021-2022

A sequence of short poetry-films exploring London as it emerges from a series of lockdowns. Taking on the ghost poets that litter the history of the capital, from Soho to the Westway, from the City to the Cemeteries, the pieces grub out known and unknown corners of the London Labyrinthe. The works aim to be true poetry films, with original poems written to the footage and film grammar and editing set the specifics of the poems.

Supported by the KULT kolteszetnap online festival and Writers Kingston.

…. yet who is a friend of yours in this city is a friend of mine
just as romance isn’t required for love
I will mind my own business
in a poem
for that is what it is for
deep down and lie still
flat as a poet can be
before I join your dear friend

will we not all be overgrown
and lacking a stone inscription
worn away to the extent it is illegible?

Around the courner lived Verlaine Rimbaud

… seasons in hell for the weekend
romances as a French word for songs
a screening of total eclipse with a buffet

by accident Pancras
I walk past the house
and it’s all partially little Arthur
looking down on big Paul
with his fish and oil

if you drink too much leaving poor precedent
for ages of poets idiots to follow
